Day 15: Where all boats come to rest. Taken at Menlo Village on January 10, 2010.
This is my last photo from the snowy weekend, honest. The last few days have been so choc-full of drama that I’ve had to put my 365 days of photos on the back burner; I’ve been grabbing almost any image I’ve had to hand.

Day 13: Still stuck in haunted forest land. Taken near Menlo Village on January 10, 2010.
I have to admit that this grove of trees near Menlo Castle intrigues me. The trees twist and turn like the broken limbs of the dammed quailing under concerted blows….aren’t I just the cheerful sort?

Day 12: Large and in charge. Taken at Menlo village on January 10, 2010.

Day 11: All alone. Taken near Menlo village on January 10, 2010.

I may as well admit here that keeping three separate sites – newworldphotos.net, bhalash.com and flickr.com – in sync regarding photos is a total pain in the ass. Doing it on a daily basis for my ”365 days of photos” just compounds the problem. Grr, etc.
Day 10: Juxtapositions. Taken on January 10, 2010.
On a photowalk to the area this morning, I decided to capture this vista again in order to compare the changes as to how the scene appeared back in October 2006, when I last visited.
I love this scene. The juxtaposition between the warm interior and the exterior that stretches off to infinity has always been a compelling inspiration for me.

Day #9: Hope. Taken on January 9, 2010.
A little less back-to-Earth for today. I feel like all of my recent photos have been too dark – either a metaphorical dark in the sense that I put emphasis on the sheer starkness of a scene (see day 8), or a literal darkness in that I go out and take photos in the middle of the night. This really flies in the face of the big shot in the arm full of hope that I’ve received coming into the new year, so I’m going to indulge myself with a (marginally) more colourful photo of the season’s chill.
Pond, it’s a pond, oh, it’s a pondddddd. A frozen pond. Ice. Solid H20. What more can you or I say? Taken just after local sunset in Menlo village, Co. Galway.

Squelch.
Therein was my evening as I visited the Friar’s Cut; the cut canal area where Lough Corrib flows into the River Corrib. The entire area is a gorgeous bogland/river delta thriving with animal and bird life; I saw several foxes and badgers in addition to a gorgeous gray crane. Also, the view from the delta are second to none in times when any kind of ‘big’ weather comes off the lake. In my instance, I caught a spectacular snow storm rolling in towards Galway City.
More to follow.
